Installing and Setting Up Plugins

Introduction

In this video I show you how to install and setup all the plugins we require to get this website built and functioning as a quality local business website should. There are thousands of free and paid plugins to get almost any functionality on your WordPress website. The plugins we install in this series are what I would call the necessary plugins.

Resources

  • If you choose to use gravity forms you can get it here.

Gravity Form vs Divi’s Standard Contact Form

In this course I use Gravity Forms to create the contact form on my contact page while using the standard Divi form everywhere else on the site. The Divi 3.0 contact form is great for adding simple small forms that look great but it has limited functionality compared to Gravity Forms.

The reason I use Gravity Form in this training is to add the ability to upload images when a is submitted from the contact page. Another alternative is Contact Form 7 which is one of the most customisable contact forms but requires research and a bit of practice to implement correctly on your website.

Key Takeaways

  • The more plugins you install, the slower your website. (in most cases)
  • If you don’t use a plugin, don’t install it.
  • Gravity forms is the easy option, Contact Form 7 requires more work not covered here.
